Zootopia kept its hold on the #1 spot atop the box office with an estimated $51.33 million. The extremely well received family film has made over $452 million worldwide. It will likely continue to have strong earning power for the House of Mouse, but its days atop the box office are likely numbered with The Divergent Series: Allegiant hitting theaters next weekend. Former box office champ Deadpool hacked its way to the #3 slot with an estimated $10.94 million. The irreverent anti-hero is no doubt making Fox executives grin with an estimated $709 million worldwide cume.
10 Cloverfield Lane performed the best of the four newcomers, with an estimated $24.7 million, good enough for the #2 spot. The other newcomers did not fare as well. The Perfect Match, The Young Messiah, and The Brothers Grimsby stumbled in at #'s 6-8 respectively; none earning more than $5 million. With Miracles From Heaven and Allegiant on next weekend's horizon, these three newcomers will continue to struggle mightily. Lastly, the former box office champion Star Wars: The Force Awakens fell all the way to #14, with an estimated $1.29 million. TFA has complied a massive worldwide total of $2.05 billion. The film will continue its efforts to take down James "King of the World" Cameron's Avatar and Titanic for highest grossing film ever worldwide.
