The Boss narrowly dispatched previous box office champ Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice for the #1 spot by only a couple hundred thousand dollars. Melissa McCarthy's The Boss finished with $23.58 million compared to Justice's $23.36 million. Justice's box office total is a disappointment and will likely finish at just under $900 million worldwide. Compare that to Marvel's The Avengers which made over $1.5 Billion at the box office. Disney's Zootopia continued to show its strong legs at the box office coming it at #3 with an estimated $14.34 million. Zootopia has now earned over $852 million dollars world wide.
Other newcomers weren't as fortunate as The Boss. The first person action film Hardcore Henry managed to shoot its way to the #5 spot with $5.1 million. Meanwhile Fox's Demolition bombed hard and didn't even crack the top 10 with a paltry $1.09 million. The Divergent Series: Allegiant continues to disappoint with an estimated $3.51 million for the #8 spot, and has a worldwide cume of $141 million. Allegiant is a major disappointment that will likely finish with just half Insurgent's total.
